pottery and ceramics

Description:

Member of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine, Honoured Master of Folk Art of Ukraine.

For many years pottery in this family is passed on from generation to generation and this craft’s technology is preserved faithfully.

Mistress manufactures decorative and household ceramics. Ceramic dishes are ecologically clean and coated with food glaze. The mistress’s skilful hands with the help of water and potter's wheel turn clay into a perfect product - jar, ‘makitra’ (clay bowl with a rough surface), dish, bell or tin whistle for children. Dishes are fired by wood twice in a special kiln, the temperature of which reaches thousands of degrees. Pottery is painted with white and brown patterns made also from clay. The mistress tells that in ancient times these colours were on the everyday pottery, and the festive dishes had bright green and yellow colours.

Master class can be held in her own workshop for a group of up to 20 persons; duration – 1-2 hours.
